This painting marks my beginning in large scale canvas painting, which encouraged me to experiment with layering images, heavily textured surfaces, and contrasating paint finishes.  The warm and bright colors, contrast, and details are inspired by R&B and soul music.  Deriving from a pencil drawing, many layers were composed in improvisational methods, using palette knives and brushes.
